SAT Reading-Writing: how to approach the section
Many students find this section overwhelming. One of the first things you can do to manage your time is to take the test in the RIGHT order — not the order they gave it to you in!
Start around question 15, with the “Standard English” questions. They are generally easier and quicker to do. Continue through the Transitions questions (they require some thought, but there are only a few of them), finish with the “student wants to” questions, which are ridiculously easy, if you know how to approach them. (I’ll blog or video about this soon.)
Now you’ve taken the easy test first!
So with your remaining time, you can go work on questions 1-14 and do your best. If you have to guess on a few really hard reading comprehension questions, no worries! By maximizing your score with the easier questions, you might arrive at your score goal with less stress.
I hope this information is helpful.
Thanks for reading!
